If you’re using both Ring Doorbell and Google Home, you might be pleased to know that it is possible to integrate these two techs. Once done, you can link your Ring Doorbell to Google Home and use voice commands to see who’s at the door, communicate with them, or even trigger your devices.

1.Install the Ring Doorbell

Before you proceed, make sure that you have installed your Ring Doorbell and connected it to the Ring app. If you haven’t installed Ring Doorbell, you can follow the instructions from Ring’s official website for installation.

2.Enable Ring Skill in Google Home

To use Ring Doorbell with Google Home, you need to enable the Ring Skill. Open the Google Home app on your smartphone or tablet and follow these instructions:

– Tap on the ‘+’ icon in the top left corner of the screen.

– Select ‘Set up device.’

– Tap on ‘Works with Google.’

– Search for Ring and select it.

– Sign in to your Ring account and link with Google Home by following the instructions.

3.Add Ring Doorbell to Google Home

Once you have enabled the Ring Skill in Google Home and linked your Ring account, you can add your Ring Doorbell to the Google Home app so that you can use voice commands to control it.

– Open the Google Home app.

– Tap on the device icon in the top right corner of the screen.

– Select ‘Set up or add devices.’

– Tap on ‘Works with Google.’

– Select Ring Doorbell and sign in using your Ring credentials.

4.Connect Ring Doorbell to Google Assistant

Now that you have successfully connected your Ring Doorbell to Google Home, you can use the Google Assistant to interact with it by linking it to a Google Assistant speaker.

– Open the Google Home app.

– Tap on the device icon in the top right corner of the screen.

– Select ‘Set up or add devices.’

– Tap on ‘Works with Google.’

– Select the Google Assistant Speaker or Smart display that you want to connect.

– Link the Google Assistant speaker with your Ring Doorbell.

5.Using Voice Commands

You’re all set now! You can now use voice commands to control your Ring Doorbell through Google Home. Here are a few examples:

– “OK Google, show me the front door”

– “OK Google, answer the front door”

– “OK Google, turn off Ring Doorbell alerts.”

About Us

Since technology is not going anywhere and does more good than harm, adapting is the best course of action. That is where The Tech Edvocate comes in. We plan to cover the PreK-12 and Higher Education EdTech sectors and provide our readers with the latest news and opinion on the subject. From time to time, I will invite other voices to weigh in on important issues in EdTech.
