Valorant, the popular tactical first-person shooter game developed by Riot Games, has gained a massive following since its release. One vital element of competitive play in Valorant is the RR (Ranked Rating) point system, which determines a player’s rank and skill level. This article will provide an in-depth look into how RR is calculated in Valorant.

Understanding the Basics of RR

Ranked Rating or RR is a numerical value that represents a player’s skill level and performance in ranked matches. The higher the RR, the higher the rank. Valorant has various ranks, starting from Iron and going up to Radiant, with three divisions (numerical from 1 to 3) in between each rank (except Radiant).

RR Calculation Factors

Several factors come into play when calculating RR points, such as:

1. Match Outcome: The most crucial determining factor for RR gains or losses is whether the player wins or loses a match. Winning matches will gain RR points, while losing games will result in lost points.

2. Personal Performance: Individual performance during matches also plays a critical role in calculating RR points. Factors like kills, deaths, assists, utility usage, and other actions contribute to your overall performance score.

3. Team Performance: Team performance significantly affects how many points you gain or lose during a match. Teamwork and communication are essential to achieving higher RR gains.

4. Opponent Skill Level: The skill level of your opponents also influences your RR calculation. When facing more skilled opponents and managing to win matches against them, you can expect your RR gains to be higher.

5. Current Rank: Your current rank influences the number of points awarded for a win or deducted for a loss. Players with higher ranks can potentially gain less and lose more points than players at lower ranks.

Calculating Ranked Rating Points in Valorant

The actual calculations behind RR gains or losses are kept secret by Riot Games to prevent abuse and ensure a fair competitive environment. However, some general observations have been made:

– Players typically gain more RR points for winning matches (approximately 10 to 50 points) than they lose when losing games (approximately 10 to 30 points).

– The amount of RR gained or lost depends on individual and team performance, as well as the skill gap between the teams.

– Performing exceptionally well in a match can result in additional RR points, known as a “Match MVP” or “Team MVP” bonus, leading to increased RR gains.
