Are you a self-proclaimed geek looking for a way to exercise your creative muscles while learning new skills? If so, have you considered taking up a geeky DIY hobby? And even if you live in a small space, there are plenty of hobbies to choose from that don’t require a lot of room.

Here are some geeky DIY hobbies that you can learn in a small space:

1. Coding: If you are interested in technology and programming, learning how to code is a great hobby to pursue. All you need is a computer and internet connection, and there are plenty of online resources and programming courses available to get you started.

2. Electronics: Building and tinkering with electronics is a fun hobby that can be done in a small space. You can start with simple projects like building a LED flasher or building a simple radio, and then move on to more complex projects as you gain experience.

3. 3D Printing: 3D Printing has become more accessible, and owning a 3D printer is becoming an affordable proposition too. This hobby lets you create anything that you can imagine. You can find many 3D printer models for free online, or design your own in software like Tinkercad.

4. Photography: Photography is a great way to develop your artistic skills while capturing the world around you. You don’t need a big camera to start exploring this hobby. Even a point-and-shoot camera or smartphone will do the job.

5. Robotics: Robotics is an exciting field that involves designing, building and programming robots. You can start small with basic robots that you build yourself or by using kits.

6. Gaming: Gaming is a popular hobby that can be done in a small space. Whether you prefer board games, video games or card games, there are plenty of options to choose from.

7. DIY Home automation: With the advent of voice assistants and Smart home devices, DIY home automation is now easier and more affordable. You can start small by building a simple RF remote and slowly expand from there.

In conclusion, geeky DIY hobbies are a great way to learn new skills while having fun. And with the options above, you can pursue your passion even if you don’t have a lot of space. So, start exploring and find the hobby that sparks your interest!

About Us

Since technology is not going anywhere and does more good than harm, adapting is the best course of action. That is where The Tech Edvocate comes in. We plan to cover the PreK-12 and Higher Education EdTech sectors and provide our readers with the latest news and opinion on the subject. From time to time, I will invite other voices to weigh in on important issues in EdTech. We hope to provide a well-rounded, multi-faceted look at the past, present, the future of EdTech in the US and internationally.

We started this journey back in June 2016, and we plan to continue it for many more years to come. I hope that you will join us in this discussion of the past, present and future of EdTech and lend your own insight to the issues that are discussed.
