Introduction

Tragedy struck the Fresno community as a local man was killed in a crash in San Benito County. The incident, which occurred on the night of November 17, 2024, has left family and friends mourning the loss.

Main Body

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported that the crash involved a 2024 Can-Am Maverick UTV traveling north on New Idria Road. The vehicle lost control at a turn, left the roadway, and crashed into a large drainage ditch. The impact caused the vehicle to go airborne and rotate before coming to rest on its wheels.

The passenger, identified as 39-year-old David Muigia from Fresno, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, 27-year-old Gabriel Lopez, was arrested on suspicion of DUI and booked into the San Benito County Jail. Three other passengers in the vehicle sustained injuries but are expected to recover.

This incident has raised concerns about road safety and the dangers of driving under the influence. The CHP has reiterated the importance of sober driving and adherence to speed limits to prevent such tragedies.

Conclusion

The death of David Muigia is a heartbreaking loss for the Fresno community. As the investigation continues, authorities are urging drivers to prioritize safety and responsibility on the roads to avoid further incidents.
