Forging a real, working Assassin’s Creed hidden blade

Assassin’s Creed is a popular game series that has captured the imagination of gamers worldwide with its thrilling action and compelling storyline. One iconic element of the series is the hidden blade – a retractable, lethal weapon that the protagonist uses with deadly precision and stealth. In this article, we’ll explore the idea of forging your very own working Assassin’s Creed hidden blade and bringing this exquisite engineering marvel to life.

Disclaimer: The content in this article is for informational and educational purposes only. Creating a weapon is dangerous and potentially illegal in many jurisdictions. Consult your local laws before attempting any such project.

1. Designing the hidden blade mechanism

The first step in creating your Assassin’s Creed hidden blade is to design the mechanism that will allow it to extend and retract. The game version utilizes a complex structure involving gears and springs, which may not be feasible for a DIY build. Instead, you can consider using a simpler sliding system or a switchblade mechanism, similar to that in folding knives.

2. Selecting the materials

The choice of materials will largely depend on the desired durability and aesthetic appeal of the final product.

– For the blade: Stainless steel is ideal due to its strength and resistance to corrosion and staining. An adequately-sized piece of steel can be purchased from a metal supplier or repurposed from an old tool.

– For the casing: Metal or plastic would make for attractive casing options; consider aluminum or PVC pipe, respectively.

– Additional components: Springs, screws, pins, and connectors will be required for assembling your hidden blade.

3. Shaping and milling the parts

You’ll need access to various tools to shape and mill your chosen material into functional parts:

– For cutting metal: A hacksaw or angle grinder with metal-cutting discs will do the trick.

– For shaping plastic: A Dremel tool with a variety of attachments can effectively cut, grind, and sand plastic materials.

– For drilling holes: A drill press or power drill with appropriate bits is necessary for affixing screws and constructing the sliding mechanism.

4. Assembling the hidden blade

With all parts properly shaped and prepared, you’ll need to assemble your hidden blade carefully:

– Attach the blade to the sliding mechanism within the casing, ensuring smooth movement and proper positioning.

– Secure the blade in place with screws, pins, or epoxy to allow firm control over its extension and retraction.

– Install any springs or switches necessary for controlling the blade’s movement.

5. Crafting the mounting system

The final step is to create a mounting system that allows for comfortable wear on your forearm:

– Wrap strips of material around your forearm to form a cushioned layer.

– Securely attach buckle straps or Velcro closures to the outside of this layer for easy adjustment and removal.

– Attach your casing containing the hidden blade to these straps, ensuring stability while concealed beneath clothing.

While it may be challenging to forge a real, functional Assassin’s Creed hidden blade, it remains an interesting exploration of engineering principles and craftsmanship. Remember that safety is paramount – work carefully and ensure any such creation is in compliance with local regulations before undertaking any DIY project.
