Discord is a popular communication platform that offers a wide range of features for gamers, communities, and businesses. One of the most interesting features of Discord is the badge system that allows users to show off their achievements, expertise, and roles within a community. However, many users are not familiar with the different types of badges and how to earn them. In this article, we will explore everything you need to know about Discord badges.

What are Discord badges?

Discord badges are virtual markers that are displayed next to a user’s name on the Discord server. They indicate a user’s accomplishments, roles, and contributions to the community. The badges are designed to be fun, engaging, and rewarding, and they encourage users to participate in the community and contribute to its growth. Some badges are given out automatically, while others require specific actions to be earned.

Types of Discord badges

There are several types of Discord badges, each with its own set of requirements and meanings. Here are the most common types of Discord badges:

1. Server Boosting badges: These badges are earned by users who contribute to the growth of the server by boosting it with Nitro. There are three levels of badges, depending on the number of boosts a user contributes.

2. Nitro badges: These badges are earned by users who have an active Nitro subscription. There are different types of Nitro badges, such as Classic Nitro, Nitro Games, and Nitro Boost.

3. Hypesquad badges: These badges are earned by members of Discord’s community program called Hypesquad. There are three types of Hypesquad badges – Bravery, Brilliance, and Balance.

4. Bug Hunter badges: These badges are earned by users who report bugs and issues on Discord. There are two types of Bug Hunter badges – Gold and Silver.

5. Verified badges: These badges are earned by users who are verified by Discord. Verification is only available to certain types of accounts, such as those belonging to Twitch streamers, YouTube creators, and game developers.

6. Moderator badges: These badges are earned by users who have the role of moderator on a Discord server. The badge indicates that the user has the authority to moderate the server and enforce the rules.

How to earn Discord badges

Earning a Discord badge requires different actions, depending on the type of badge you want to earn. For example, to earn a Server Boosting badge, you need to contribute to the server’s Nitro boost with either your own Nitro subscription or Nitro gifts. To earn a Hypesquad badge, you need to apply for Discord’s community program and participate in its events and activities.

To earn a Bug Hunter badge, you need to report bugs and issues on Discord’s public issue tracker. To earn a Moderator badge, you need to be assigned the role of moderator by the server administrator.
