Mental health is a critical aspect of our overall wellbeing that must be taken care of with priority. With the dynamic way of living, it is not uncommon to feel overwhelmed and lost at times. Several individuals seek support for their mental health concerns, especially when suicidal thoughts and self-harm behaviors become a part of their routine. In such cases, mental health apps can prove to be an effective tool in preventing suicide and self-harm and cope with daily stressors.

The following are some of the essential mental health apps that can help in managing these concerns:

1. Calm Harm: Calm Harm is a unique mental health app developed by the National Health Service (NHS) in the UK. This app offers six coping mechanisms to deal with self-harm behavior. This app provides practical techniques, such as breathing exercises, physical distractions, and relaxation techniques, to prevent self-harm and improve mood.

2. Wysa: Wysa is an AI-based mental health app that provides round-the-clock support to cope with stress, anxiety, and depression. It uses an AI chatbot that engages in therapeutic conversations with users using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) techniques.

3. Talklife: Talklife is a social networking app designed to provide a safe and supportive platform for individuals experiencing mental health issues. Users can connect and communicate with others dealing with similar conditions, reducing isolation levels and increasing social support.

4. Headspace: Headspace is a meditation and relaxation app that teaches mindfulness techniques to assist the user in finding their inner peace. The app offers guided meditations, sleep sounds, and daily reminders to practice self-care.

5. Youper: Youper is an AI-based mental health app that offers a range of different topics and strategies to help manage symptoms of anxiety, depression, and others. The app is designed to track mood changes over time, identify patterns and provide personalized advice.

In conclusion, mental health apps can be a valuable tool to manage daily stressors, prevent self-harm and suicide, and provide psychological support round-the-clock. These essential mental health apps are widely accessible and affordable resources to avail mental health support and improve overall wellbeing. However, if you or someone you know is struggling with self-harm or suicidal thoughts, it is essential to reach out to professionals and seek immediate help.
