Steps to create a hands-free smart home with SmartThings and Google Home:

1. First, set up a SmartThings hub
and connect all your smart devices to it. This can include smart lights, smart locks, smart thermostat, and more.

2. Download and install the SmartThings app on your smartphone or tablet to control all the connected devices.

3. Next, set up your Google Home device and link it to your SmartThings account through the Google Assistant app.

4. Once this is done, you can start using voice commands to control your smart home devices. For example, you can say “Hey Google, turn off the living room lights” or “Hey Google, lock the front door.”

5. You can also create custom routines and automations in SmartThings to automate certain tasks. For example, you can have your smart lights turn on automatically when you arrive home or have your smart thermostat adjust the temperature based on the time of day.

6. Another useful feature is the ability to control your smart home devices remotely using the SmartThings app. This means that you can turn off lights, unlock doors, or adjust the thermostat from anywhere, as long as you have an internet connection.

Overall, combining SmartThings and Google Home is a great way to create a hands-free smart home that is easy to control and customize. With these two platforms working together, you can enjoy a more convenient and comfortable living experience.

About Us

Since technology is not going anywhere and does more good than harm, adapting is the best course of action. That is where The Tech Edvocate comes in. We plan to cover the PreK-12 and Higher Education EdTech sectors and provide our readers with the latest news and opinion on the subject. From time to time, I will invite other voices to weigh in on important issues in EdTech. We hope to provide a well-rounded, multi-faceted look at the past, present, the future of EdTech in the US and internationally.

We started this journey back in June 2016, and we plan to continue it for many more years to come. I hope that you will join us in this discussion of the past, present and future of EdTech and lend your own insight to the issues that are discussed.
