Change the Folder Icons on Your Mac to Give It a Fresh New Look

If you’re someone who spends hours working on their Mac, you might want to give it a fresh new look every once in a while. It makes the experience of using your computer more exciting and can even help you stay motivated. One of the ways to do that is by changing the folder icons.
Folder icons are the first thing you see when you open a folder on your Mac. The default icons are fine, but they can feel a little dull after a while. However, changing them is a quick and easy process that can be done in a few clicks. Here’s how:
- Find the folder you want to change the icon of. You can change the icon of any folder on your Mac, but it’s best to start with one that you use frequently.
- Find an image or icon that you want to use as your folder icon. You can use any image, but it’s best to choose one that’s large enough and looks good when scaled down. You can find icons online, or create your own.
- Open the image or icon in Preview. If you’re using an image, make sure it’s in PNG format. If you’re using an icon, it should already be in the right format.
- Select the image or icon by clicking on it, and then press Command + C to copy it.
- Go back to the folder you want to change the icon of. Right-click on it and select Get Info.
- The folder’s Info window will appear. Click on the folder icon in the top left corner of the window. It will highlight.
- Press Command + V to paste the image or icon you copied earlier. The folder icon will change to the new image or icon.
- Close the Info window, and you’re done!
You can repeat these steps for any folder you want to change the icon of. You can use different images or icons to create a unique visual identity for each folder. For example, you could use a picture of a dog for your pet photos folder, or a music note for your music folder.
