Can Alexa Play iTunes or Apple Music?

Alexa, the intelligent personal assistant developed by Amazon, has been well-known for its ability to perform various tasks such as setting alarms, controlling smart home devices, and playing music. However, one of the most frequently asked questions about Alexa is whether it can play iTunes or Apple Music.

The answer is yes, Alexa can play iTunes and Apple Music, but there are some limitations that users should be aware of. Let’s dive deeper into this topic.

To get started, users must have an active Apple Music account or access to their iTunes library. If you are an Apple Music subscriber, you can stream music directly from the service using an Alexa-enabled device such as Amazon Echo, Echo Dot, or Echo Show. To set up Apple Music on your Alexa-enabled device, simply open the Alexa app on your smartphone or tablet and navigate to the “Skills & Games” section. From there, search for Apple Music and enable the skill.

If you prefer to use your iTunes library instead, Alexa can play music from your computer by using the Alexa app for desktop. The app allows users to sync their computer with Alexa, giving them access to their iTunes library and the songs they have stored there. You can then use voice commands to play songs, create playlists, and control playback.

While both options provide a way to listen to music from Apple on Alexa, there are some limitations to be aware of. For example, Apple Music playback is only available in certain countries. As of the time of writing, Apple Music on Alexa is available in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and Ireland. Additionally, using Alexa to play music from your iTunes library requires a stable Wi-Fi connection and the computer must be turned on and connected to the same network as the Alexa device.

In conclusion, if you are an Apple Music subscriber or have a lot of songs in your iTunes library, you can enjoy listening to your favorite tracks by simply using Alexa. While there are some restrictions, Alexa’s ability to play music from Apple makes it a valuable addition to any music lover’s home. With a little bit of setup, you can sit back, relax, and enjoy your favorite tunes commanded from your voice.
