BlackBerry KeyOne Review

The BlackBerry KeyOne brings us back to the days when physical keyboards reigned supreme. With its modern Android operating system and the iconic keyboard, this device caters to business professionals and users loyal to the BlackBerry brand. In our review, we’ll dive deep into the features, pros, and cons of this fascinating smartphone.

Design:

The BlackBerry KeyOne has a sleek aluminum frame with a soft-touch textured back, which provides excellent grip. The 4.5-inch IPS display is sharp and vibrant, with a resolution of 1620×1080 pixels. The key selling point of this device is undoubtedly its physical QWERTY keyboard, providing a tangible nostalgia. Adding to its appeal, each key on the keyboard acts as a fingerprint sensor for additional security.

Performance:

Running on an Android 7.1 Nougat operating system and powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor with 3GB RAM, the BlackBerry KeyOne performs admirably for everyday usage. It can handle multiple apps and multitasking without any significant issues. With 32GB of internal storage (expandable via microSD), the KeyOne offers ample space for your apps, documents, and multimedia files.

Battery Life:

The BlackBerry KeyOne has a non-removable 3505mAh battery that easily lasts through a whole day of moderate use. With Quick Charge 3.0 technology, it takes roughly two hours to charge fully from being empty.

Camera:

The smartphone features a 12-megapixel rear camera with dual-tone LED flash and an 8-megapixel front-facing camera for selfies. While not on par with flagship devices such as the Samsung Galaxy S8 or iPhone X, the camera performance is respectable in good lighting conditions.

Security Features:

A major selling point for business professionals is DTEK security software developed by BlackBerry. This allows users to monitor and control app permissions, ensuring your personal information remains protected. Alongside the keyboard fingerprint sensor, the KeyOne comes equipped with a range of features for keeping your data secure.

Verdict:

BlackBerry KeyOne is an excellent device for business professionals and fans of physical keyboards. It offers a well-balanced combination of nostalgia and modern technology. Although it may not have the same allure as the high-end flagships, it holds its niche for those looking for a smartphone that means business. Its security features, sleek design, and unique QWERTY keyboard make it worth considering if this is what you’re after in a device.
