As someone who often embarks on solo travels, I’ve come to find solace and excitement in the vast wilderness of America’s national parks. Each park tells its own story and offers a unique experience to those willing to explore it. Below are some of the best US national parks that I recommend to any fellow solo traveler seeking adventure and connection with nature.

1. Yosemite National Park, California: Famous for its imposing cliffs, giant sequoias, and majestic waterfalls, Yosemite is a must-visit for anyone looking for dramatic landscapes and reflective moments.

2. Zion National Park, Utah: Zion’s iconic sandstone cliffs offer a dramatic backdrop to adventurous hikes like Angels Landing and The Narrows. These treks are exhilarating challenges for those traveling by themselves.

3. Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming/Montana/Idaho: As the first national park in the world, Yellowstone is home to an incredible variety of wildlife and geothermal features like Old Faithful Geyser.

4. Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona: The overwhelming size and beauty of the Grand Canyon make it an ideal destination for solo hikers who are searching for perspective amidst its grandeur.

5. Acadia National Park, Maine: Offering a different vibe from the western parks, Acadia’s rugged coastlines, forested paths on Mount Desert Island, and quiet moments at Bass Harbor Head Lighthouse are ideal for contemplation and rejuvenation.

6. Glacier National Park, Montana: Known for its stunning alpine scenery and pristine lakes, Glacier is perfect for solo travelers seeking tranquility or thrilling backcountry hiking experiences.

7. Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado: With over 300 miles of trails traversing diverse terrain from meadows to mountains, this park is superb for those who enjoy solitude along with panoramic vistas.

8. Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Tennessee/North Carolina: As one of the most biodiverse parks with a myriad of flora and fauna along its misty ranges, this park offers serene walks through old-growth forests.

Solo travelers find that these national parks not only provide an escape from everyday life but also present an opportunity to meet other like-minded adventurers along the way. Each visit is a personal journey, filled with moments of awe and self-discovery amidst America’s natural wonders.

About Us

Since technology is not going anywhere and does more good than harm, adapting is the best course of action. That is where The Tech Edvocate comes in. We plan to cover the PreK-12 and Higher Education EdTech sectors and provide our readers with the latest news and opinion on the subject. From time to time, I will invite other voices to weigh in on important issues in EdTech. We hope to provide a well-rounded, multi-faceted look at the past, present, the future of EdTech in the US and internationally.

We started this journey back in June 2016, and we plan to continue it for many more years to come. I hope that you will join us in this discussion of the past, present and future of EdTech and lend your own insight to the issues that are discussed.
