Language barriers can be a challenge, particularly when traveling to a foreign country or communicating with someone who speaks a different language. Fortunately, thanks to the advent of technology, language translation has become more accessible with the use of translation apps that can be downloaded onto smartphones.

Here are some of the best translation apps to install on your smartphone:

1. Google Translate

Undoubtedly the most popular translation app, Google Translate supports more than 100 languages and can translate text, speech, images, and handwriting. It also has a conversation mode, which allows for real-time bilingual communication. The app also offers a feature called “Word Lens,” which translates printed text in real-time when viewed through a smartphone camera.

2. iTranslate

iTranslate is another popular translation app, offering support for over 100 languages, including Norwegian, Slovak, and Slovenian. It allows users to translate text, speech, and even websites. The app also includes a conversation mode and a handy “phrasebook” feature, which stores frequently used phrases for quick access.

3. Microsoft Translator

Microsoft Translator supports over 60 languages and allows users to translate text, speech, and real-time conversation. The app incorporates a feature called “Image Translation” that enables users to capture an image of text and translate it into a language of their choice.

4. TripLingo

TripLingo is a translation app designed explicitly for travelers. The app features audio lessons in over 100 languages to help users learn essential phrases, navigate their way through new destinations, and even manage emergency situations. It also includes a voice translator, which can offer real-time translation for phone calls.

5. SayHi Translate

SayHi Translate is an app that provides spoken translations in over 90 languages. The app is designed for fast and straightforward communication, with features like continuous voice recognition and easy sharing through email, text, or social media.

About Us

Since technology is not going anywhere and does more good than harm, adapting is the best course of action. That is where The Tech Edvocate comes in. We plan to cover the PreK-12 and Higher Education EdTech sectors and provide our readers with the latest news and opinion on the subject. From time to time, I will invite other voices to weigh in on important issues in EdTech. We hope to provide a well-rounded, multi-faceted look at the past, present, the future of EdTech in the US and internationally.

We started this journey back in June 2016, and we plan to continue it for many more years to come. I hope that you will join us in this discussion of the past, present and future of EdTech and lend your own insight to the issues that are discussed.
