A perfectly cooked spiral ham can be the centerpiece of any festive meal, whether it’s a holiday dinner, family gathering, or a casual potluck. In this article, we will explore the best spiral ham recipe, including tips and tricks on how to cook a spiral ham that’s flavorful and succulent.

Ingredients:

– 1 (8-10 pound) pre-cooked spiral-sliced ham

– 1/2 cup packed brown sugar

– 1/4 cup pure maple syrup

– 1/4 cup Dijon mustard

– 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves

– Aluminum foil

– Baking dish or roasting pan

Instructions:

1. Preheat your oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit. While the oven is warming up, remove the ham from its packaging and pat it dry with paper towels. Be sure to leave the plastic disk at the bottom of the ham to prevent slices from falling off.

2. In a small mixing bowl, combine the brown sugar, maple syrup, Dijon mustard, and ground cloves. Mix these ingredients well until they form a smooth glaze.

3. To prepare your baking dish or roasting pan, line it with aluminum foil for easier cleanup after cooking. Place the ham in the prepared baking dish or roasting pan with the flat side down.

4. Using a basting brush or a spoon, evenly coat the ham with about half of the glaze mixture. Make sure to brush between the spiraled slices for even flavor distribution.

5. Cover your glazed ham loosely with aluminum foil to keep it moist during cooking and prevent over-browning. Place it in your preheated oven on the center rack.

6. Calculate cooking time based on your ham’s weight: A general rule is to cook it for about 10-12 minutes per pound at 325 degrees Fahrenheit. For an 8-10 pound ham, this would be a total of 80-100 minutes.

7. About halfway through the cooking time, baste the ham with the remaining glaze mixture and cover it again with foil before placing it back in the oven.

8. After cooking for the calculated time, remove the ham from the oven and let it rest for about 15 minutes before serving. This will allow the juices to redistribute and result in a more tender and flavorful spiral ham.

9. Slice your perfectly cooked spiral ham by following its natural lines, and serve it on a platter alongside your favorite side dishes.
Congratulations! You’ve now learned how to cook a delicious and tender spiral ham using this best spiral ham recipe. Enjoy your meal, and don’t forget to share it with friends and family to make their gatherings just as memorable as yours.
