Introduction:

Sloppy Joes are a classic American comfort food, with many variations floating around. The perfect Sloppy Joe balances that savory, slightly sweet and tangy flavor with a satisfying and messy texture. In this article, I will share my favorite recipe for making the best and easiest homemade Sloppy Joes.

Ingredients:

– 1 lb ground beef

– 1 small onion, chopped

– 1 small green bell pepper, chopped

– 2 cloves garlic, minced

– 3/4 cup ketchup

– 1/3 cup water

– 2 tbsp brown sugar

– 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

– 1 tsp yellow mustard

– 1/2 tsp salt

– 1/4 tsp black pepper

– Hamburger buns

Instructions:

1. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat, then add the ground beef. Cook the beef while breaking it up into smaller pieces using a spatula until it’s evenly browned.

2. Add the chopped onion and green bell pepper to the skillet, stirring occasionally. Cook until the vegetables turn soft, which typically takes around 5 minutes.

3. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for about one minute or until fragrant.

4. In a separate bowl, mix together ketchup, water, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, yellow mustard, salt, and black pepper to create the sauce.

5. Pour the sauce over the ground beef mixture in the skillet. Stir well to ensure all ingredients are combined.

6. Lower the heat and let it simmer for approximately 10 minutes or until the sauce has thickened.

7. Toast your hamburger buns (optional) and then scoop generous portions of the Sloppy Joe mixture onto the bottom halves of each bun.

Complete the sandwich by placing the top of each hamburger bun over the filling.Serve and enjoy! These easy Sloppy Joes are great for weeknight dinners, potlucks, or any casual gathering. Share this classic yet simple recipe with your friends and family and let the finger-licking enjoyment begin!
