The closure of PrimeWire, a popular streaming site, left many users in search of comparable alternatives. Fortunately, the internet offers a wide variety of streaming platforms where movie aficionados can continue to enjoy their favorite films and television shows. Some of the best alternatives include:

1. Popcorn Time – This site stands out with its free downloadable software that streams torrents. It has a user-friendly interface similar to Netflix and offers a vast selection of movies and shows.

2. 123Movies – Known for its extensive library, 123Movies is one of the most popular streaming sites that features a clean layout and easy navigation.

3. SolarMovie – SolarMovie offers an impressive collection of HD movies and TV series without the need for sign-up.  It’s appreciated for its well-organized content.

4. Putlocker – Putlocker has been around for years and continuously provides a massive range of movies and series across different genres.

5. GoMovies – With a layout that rivals paid services, GoMovies provides a premium experience with a wide variety of content available for free.

6. Pluto TV – Unlike many other streaming websites, Pluto TV is entirely legal and offers hundreds of channels covering movies, TV shows, sports, and other types of content.

7. Vudu – While Vudu is mainly known for movie rentals, it also offers a selection of free content supported by ads.

8. Tubi TV – This is another legal option that provides free access to thousands of movies and TV series with fewer ads than what you’d find on network television.

9. Kanopy – Ideal for the fans of indie films and documentaries, Kanopy partners with libraries and universities to offer an ad-free streaming service at no cost if you have a library card or university login.

10. Yify TV – Yify is known for its high-quality torrents, but its streaming site also offers a vast array of movies to watch directly online without downloading.

Each service presents unique benefits; some offer higher video quality, others provide wider content variety or better user experience. Film enthusiasts have plenty to choose from when it comes to finding the right streaming platform according to their preferences.

About Us

Since technology is not going anywhere and does more good than harm, adapting is the best course of action. That is where The Tech Edvocate comes in. We plan to cover the PreK-12 and Higher Education EdTech sectors and provide our readers with the latest news and opinion on the subject. From time to time, I will invite other voices to weigh in on important issues in EdTech. We hope to provide a well-rounded, multi-faceted look at the past, present, the future of EdTech in the US and internationally.

We started this journey back in June 2016, and we plan to continue it for many more years to come. I hope that you will join us in this discussion of the past, present and future of EdTech and lend your own insight to the issues that are discussed.
