Plant identification can be a challenge, especially if you have limited knowledge of plants, or if you’re trying to identify plants in an unfamiliar area. Fortunately, there are many apps available for both Android and iPhone that can help you easily identify plants.

1. PictureThis

PictureThis is an easy-to-use app available for both Android and iPhone that uses advanced artificial intelligence to identify plants. The app allows you to take a photo of a plant, and it will quickly provide you with the plant’s name, scientific name, and other important information such as its care guide.

Moreover, It is also a great app to learn about planting, watering, fertilizing, and pest control. The app is available for free but offers in-app purchases for advanced features.

2. PlantSnap

PlantSnap is another app that uses advanced artificial intelligence to identify plants using photos. The app is available for free for Android and iPhone users, and it can identify over 625,000 plants.

One of the best things about PlantSnap is that it allows you to save your previous plant identifications, so you can revisit them later. Additionally, it provides information about its taxonomy, care, and physical features.

3. GardenTags

GardenTags is an app that works both as a social platform and a plant identifier. Sharing photos of plants, asking for help from more experienced gardeners, and buying and selling plants are just a few of the app’s features. The app is free for both Android and iPhone users.

GardenTags is an excellent platform for plant enthusiasts to connect and share their knowledge, and you can ask for assistance with plant identification from other users.

4. LeafSnap

LeafSnap is a unique app that uses visual recognition software to identify tree species from their leaves. It has a database of about 190 tree species in the Northern Hemisphere. The app is free for both iPhone and Android users.

The app allows you to capture images of leaves and compare them with its database to identify the plant species. It provides information about the tree species including its origin, leaf arrangement, leaf shape, fruit, flowers, and bark.

5. iNaturalist

iNaturalist is a community-based app that enables users to identify plants and animals by taking and sharing their photos. The app is free for both Android and iPhone users.

Once you’ve taken a photo of a plant, you can upload it to iNaturalist where it is open to the community to help in identifying it. The app includes a mapping tool that allows you to find other observations near your location.
