Music notation is the language of musicians where they describe their melodies and harmonies into a written form. Writing music notation can be an easy task if you have the right tools with you, and they are available online. In this article, we will recommend some of the best online tools to write musical notation.

1. Musescore

Musescore is one of the most popular writing tools for musical notation. It has a user-friendly interface and comes with an extensive library of instruments, chords, and symbols. Musicians can create and print sheet music for free, arrange songs, and even upload their own compositions to share with the community.

2. Noteflight

Noteflight is an online music notation software where musicians can write and share their compositions in real-time. It offers a variety of features such as score playback, instrumental and chord libraries, and a variety of input methods. The platform also provides an option for musicians to learn from each other through sharing compositions.

3. Finale

Finale is a well-known notation software with a vast selection of features that can range from notating basic melodies to creating full orchestral scores. It is a paid service, but it offers quiz generators and other educational tools, which may be helpful for musicians to learn the basics of music notation.

4. Sibelius

Sibelius is another famous notation software that has been around for many years. It has an extensive library of sounds, instruments and offers many advanced functions for professional musicians. It has a 30-day free trial, but after that, it requires a subscription for continued usage.

5. Flat

Flat is a web-based platform that provides a simple and easy-to-use interface for songwriters and composers. It comes with a variety of editing tools, such as chord and drum mapping, which makes it an excellent choice for musicians who prefer to write music from scratch.
