Best Indoor Plants: 6 Of The Easiest Large Houseplants

If you’re looking to add a touch of nature to your living space, large houseplants are an excellent choice. Not only do they bring a sense of calm and tranquility, but they also act as natural air purifiers. Here are six of the easiest large indoor plants to keep alive, perfect for beginners and those with less-than-green thumbs:

1.Monstera Deliciosa: Often known simply as “Monstera,” this plant is celebrated for its dramatic, holey leaves. It thrives in medium to bright indirect light and requires watering only when the soil is dry to the touch.

2.Ficus lyrata, also known as the Fiddle Leaf Fig: This plant sports large, violin-shaped leaves that can add a dramatic touch to any room. Fiddle Leaf Figs prefer bright, indirect light but can tolerate some shade. Allow the top inch of soil to dry out before watering.

3.Dracaena: There are several species of Dracaena suitable for indoor living, known for their tall, woody stems and long leaves. They’re adaptable houseplants that can cope with low light conditions and need less frequent watering.

4.Sansevieria, commonly known as Snake Plant: With its striking upright leaves, Sansevieria is incredibly low-maintenance. It can survive in both low light and direct sunlight, and it only needs watering every few weeks.

5.ZZ Plant (Zamioculcas zamiifolia): This plant’s glossy leaves and robust nature make it nearly indestructible. It does well in low-light situations and requires minimal watering, making it ideal for those who travel often or tend to neglect their plants.

6.Philodendron: Similar to Monstera in care requirements, Philodendrons have a variety of shapes and sizes, from climbing vines to upright plants. They enjoy medium indirect light and like their soil to stay moist but not soggy.

Remember that even “easy” plants require some level of care – proper lighting, regular watering, occasional fertilization, and dusting of leaves are all practices that will keep your large houseplants thriving and your indoor space inviting.

About Us

Since technology is not going anywhere and does more good than harm, adapting is the best course of action. That is where The Tech Edvocate comes in. We plan to cover the PreK-12 and Higher Education EdTech sectors and provide our readers with the latest news and opinion on the subject. From time to time, I will invite other voices to weigh in on important issues in EdTech. We hope to provide a well-rounded, multi-faceted look at the past, present, the future of EdTech in the US and internationally.

We started this journey back in June 2016, and we plan to continue it for many more years to come. I hope that you will join us in this discussion of the past, present and future of EdTech and lend your own insight to the issues that are discussed.
