Best Base Locations In ARK: Survival Ascended

In the challenging world of ARK: Survival Ascended, your base is not just a shelter—it’s a sanctuary, a strategic stronghold, and a crucial steppingstone to mastering the prehistoric and fantastical landscape. Every survivor knows that choosing the right location for your base can mean the difference between thriving and merely surviving. Let’s explore some of the top spots where you can set up camp to ascend in the wilds of ARK.

The Hidden Lake (The Island)

Seated comfortably in the northeast segment of The Island, the Hidden Lake offers a serene and relatively safe haven. What makes it particularly enticing is its natural fortification—a ring of cliffs provides innate defense, reducing the number of angles from which aggressive dinosaurs can attack. It’s also bountiful with resources, including water access for hydration and strategic gameplay.

The Plateaus (Scorched Earth)

Harsh weather conditions make Scorched Earth a brutal environment, yet the Plateaus rise above it all. Found towards the center of the map, these elevated flat-tops serve as excellent bases that give players an unobstructed view of potential dangers, along with easy access to valuable resources like metal and obsidian. With multiple levels to build on, you’re not just surviving—you’re reigning from above.

The Redwood Forest Tree Platforms (The Center)

Make like a sky lord with a tree-based fortress in The Center’s Redwood Forests. Leveraging hulking trees as foundations for your platforms gives a unique advantage—elevation against ground threats and space for creative base building. Just be wary of aerial predators!

The Floating Island (Crystal Isles)

Why bind yourself to terra firma when an entire floating island could be yours? Suspended in clear blue skies, this extraordinary locale on Crystal Isles boasts resources aplenty, isolation from ground-based threats, and enough space to support even the grandest of bases.

Mushroom Caves (Aberration)

Delve into Aberration’s Mushroom Caves if you prefer subterranean splendor. These caves offer protection from the map’s lethal surface radiation and provide an expansive network to excavate and expand into—a spelunker’s dream come true.

Pillar Peaks (Valguero)

For those brave souls who wish to keep their heads in the clouds without leaving solid ground entirely, Valguero’s Pillar Peaks are ideal. Towering above most predators and with less traffic than lower regions, these peaks are deserted enough to let you build your castle among the clouds.

Each chosen location brings unique challenges but also unparalleled opportunities to harness ARK’s raw beauty and danger for survival success. Bear in mind that one must adapt their strategy with each terrain—defend against airborne attacks on tree platforms or withstand dehydration high on Scorched Earth’s plateaus—ascending in ARK is about harmonizing resilience with resourcefulness.

Remember that while locations matter hugely, securing them takes skill—and keeping them requires tenacity. So choose wisely, build smartly, and ascend heroically!
