Spread the love

Audiobooks have become increasingly popular over the years, especially with the rise of digital technology. With the convenience of smartphones and tablets, audiobooks can now be accessed anytime and anywhere. Although Audible is one of the most popular audiobook services out there, it’s not the only option. There are many free or cheap alternatives that audiobook lovers can choose from. Here is a list of some of the best audiobook apps that can provide you with the same, if not better, listening experience.

1. Libby

Libby is a free audiobook app that allows you to borrow audiobooks from your local library. With Libby, you can access thousands of audiobooks for free, as long as you have a library card. The app is easy to use, and you can filter your search results by availability, language, and more. You can also download the audiobooks for offline listening.

2. Hoopla

Similar to Libby, Hoopla allows you to borrow audiobooks from your local library for free. In addition to audiobooks, Hoopla also offers comics, ebooks, movies, music, and TV shows. You can borrow up to 10 items per month, and there are no wait times. The app is available on both Android and iOS devices.

3. OverDrive

OverDrive is another audiobook app that allows you to borrow audiobooks from your local library. It’s similar to Libby, but it has a different interface. You can browse the audiobooks by genre, author, and popularity. The app also keeps track of your borrowing history, so you can easily access your favorite audiobooks again. OverDrive is available on both Android and iOS devices.

4. Audiobooks.com

Audiobooks.com is a paid audiobook service that offers a wide selection of audiobooks. For a monthly fee, you can access over 150,000 audiobooks, and you get to keep one audiobook every month, even if you cancel your subscription. The app is available on both Android and iOS devices.

5. Google Play Books

Google Play Books is a free audiobook app that allows you to purchase and listen to audiobooks. You can browse the audiobooks by genre, author, and popularity. The app also allows you to listen to audiobook samples before you purchase them. The audiobooks can be downloaded for offline listening, and the app is available on both Android and iOS devices.

About Us

Since technology is not going anywhere and does more good than harm, adapting is the best course of action. That is where The Tech Edvocate comes in. We plan to cover the PreK-12 and Higher Education EdTech sectors and provide our readers with the latest news and opinion on the subject. From time to time, I will invite other voices to weigh in on important issues in EdTech. We hope to provide a well-rounded, multi-faceted look at the past, present, the future of EdTech in the US and internationally.

We started this journey back in June 2016, and we plan to continue it for many more years to come. I hope that you will join us in this discussion of the past, present and future of EdTech and lend your own insight to the issues that are discussed.
