Apple Watch Series 8 vs. SE: Which One Is Right for You?

The age-old question once again arises as Apple releases its latest iteration of the Apple Watch – which one should you get? With the introduction of the Apple Watch Series 8 and the Apple Watch SE, making the choice might be challenging. In this article, we will discuss the key differences between these two models to help you determine which is best suited for your needs.

Design & Display

At first glance, both the Series 8 and SE watches share a strikingly similar design with their predecessors. Both models feature a rounded rectangular form factor, customizable watch faces, and swappable watch bands. The main difference lies in their sizes. The Series 8 comes in two sizes: 41mm or 45mm with an Always-On Retina display. Comparatively, the SE comes in a single size (40mm or 44mm) and does not have an Always-On display.

Performance & Battery Life

The Series 8 watch is equipped with a faster S7 processor, while the SE retains the previous generation’s S5 chip. Although both watches perform smoothly without noticeable hiccups, you may appreciate the more powerful processor in the Series 8 if you’re an avid multitasker. In terms of battery life, expect about 18 hours on both watches – good enough for all-day use but requiring nightly charging.

Health & Fitness Features

When it comes to health and fitness features, there are marked differences between the two models. The Series 8 includes advanced health-tracking features such as blood oxygen monitoring, electrocardiogram (ECG), and improved heart rate monitoring sensors. On the other hand, the SE lacks these advanced features but still provides basic heart rate monitoring and tracking for various workouts.

Both watches do share plenty of fitness features like fall detection, noise alerts for loud environments, emergency SOS, sleep tracking, and activity rings to track your daily exercise and movement.

Price

A significant deciding factor for many will be the price. The Apple Watch Series 8 starts at $399, while the SE is priced at a more budget-friendly $279. Ultimately, you’ll need to weigh the benefits of the additional features and improved processor against the cost difference between the two models.

Verdict

To sum it up, deciding between the Apple Watch Series 8 and SE comes down to your specific needs and budget. If you are looking for advanced health features like ECG and blood oxygen monitoring, along with a faster processor, then the Series 8 is your best option. However, if you don’t require these cutting-edge features and would prefer a more affordable yet capable smartwatch with excellent fitness tracking capabilities, then the SE might be the right choice for you.

As with any purchase decision, consider how each watch’s features align with your lifestyle and demands – ultimately, that’s what will determine which model is right for you.
