Apple Watch Series 4 Review: The Best Smartwatch Adds ECG, Too

The Apple Watch Series 4 undoubtedly stands as a champion in the realm of smartwatches. It’s not just a timepiece but a health and fitness accessory loaded with innovations and refined features, most notably the new Electrocardiogram (ECG) feature – a competent leap in tech-evolution of smartwatches.

Design

The design of the Series 4 is sleeker than its predecessors, with slimmer edges that provide a more compact look and seamless feel on the wrist. The watch face is now larger, offering 30-35% more screen realestate while maintaining the same comfortable fit. Adding to its impressive aesthetics are different finishes and band styles that cater to an array of personal preferences.

Performance

Proving to be more than just a pretty face, Series 4 reinforces its charming aesthetics with impressive functionality. The device operates on an S4 chip with a custom 64-bit dual-core processor, resulting in twice the speed of the Apple Watch Series 3. This ensures smooth navigation through apps and quick response times.

Health Features & ECG

While the watch includes features like step tracking and workout records, the show stealer here is unquestionably its FDA-approved ECG feature. With this, wearers can obtain real-time readings of their heart rhythm in just 30 seconds. This could be instrumental in indicating concerning conditions such as atrial fibrillation. However, it should be noted that this technology doesn’t replace professional medical advice but could be indicative of potential health issues.

Battery Life & More

The Series 4 offers up to 18 hours of battery life. It does remarkably well in holding up during regular use including calls, music, workout tracking etc., which means you wouldn’t need to charge it multiple times a day.

Conclusion

Wearable technology often has to balance between aesthetics, usability, features and battery life. Factoring all these aspects, the Apple Watch Series 4 emerges as potentially the best smartwatch around. The addition of an ECG application highlights Apple’s commitment to not just technical innovation but also health consciousness among consumers – making it a worthy investment for anyone who values tech on-the-go.
