Apple Watch SE for kids: A review of Family Setup after two weeks

The Apple Watch SE has made a significant splash in the smartwatch market since its release. With its sleek design and an array of standout features, it’s no wonder that parents are considering it as a useful tool for their kids. Apple’s Family Setup has been a game-changer, enabling parents to set up and manage their child’s watch with ease. Here, we provide an overview after two weeks of use.

## The Set-Up Process

Setting up the Apple Watch SE for kids using Family Setup is surprisingly straightforward. You’ll need to have an iPhone running iOS 14 or later, and the process is as simple as scanning the QR code displayed on your child’s watch. You’ll then be guided through setting up permissions, contacts, location-sharing preferences, and more.

## Overseeing Your Child’s Experience

One of the primary benefits of the Family Setup feature is the ability to monitor and manage how your child interacts with their Apple Watch SE. Parents can set time limits, designate which contacts their child can communicate with, and even approve app downloads.

Schooltime mode ensures kids aren’t distracted during class hours by muting notifications and restricting app usage. Additionally, parents can keep track of their children’s location using the Find My app—a feature that brings peace of mind when they’re away from home.

## Fitness and Health Tracking

Fitness and health tracking are invaluable aspects of the Apple Watch SE. Whether your child is into sports or just active in general, they can track their workouts and daily steps while receiving encouragement from animated rings displayed on the screen. Moreover, reminders to stand or breathe can help teach healthy habits from an early age.

## Emergency SOS

Safety is always a top concern for parents, and Apple has addressed this with an Emergency SOS feature on the Apple Watch SE. By pressing down on the side button, your child can send a distress signal to their designated emergency contact. This feature also shares real-time location data, making it easier for help to reach your child in case of an emergency.

## Battery Life

With all these functionalities, one might expect the Apple Watch SE for kids to struggle with battery life. However, after two weeks of use, our experience has been quite impressive. On average, the watch maintains its charge for more than a day’s worth of use before needing a recharge.

## Verdict

After two weeks of using Apple Watch SE with Family Setup, we can conclude that it’s an excellent investment for parents seeking smart technology that keeps their children safe, healthy, and connected. The watch’s intuitive design and robust feature set have made it a useful asset in daily life while providing parents peace of mind and control over their child’s experience.
