Apple Watch 6 vs. Apple Watch SE: Every big difference

The release of the Apple Watch Series 6 and Apple Watch SE presents two impressive wearable options for consumers. With both smartwatches offering unique features, it can be difficult to determine which one suits you best. In this article, we will examine the major differences between the Apple Watch 6 and Apple Watch SE.

Design and Display

Both the Apple Watch Series 6 and Apple Watch SE share a similar design, with a sleek 40mm or 44mm aluminum case, a button, and a Digital Crown on the side. However, the Series 6 has an always-on display feature which allows your watch face to remain visible even when your wrist is down. The SE lacks this option, reverting to a blank screen when inactive.

Performance and Battery Life

The Series 6 boasts the powerful S6 chip that contributes to its snappy performance and increased energy efficiency. On the other hand, the SE uses the slightly older S5 chip but maintains a comparable performance. When it comes to battery life, both watches deliver up to 18 hours of use on a single charge.

Health Features

Apple’s Series 6 distinguishes itself in terms of health monitoring capabilities. The watch can measure your blood oxygen levels using an onboard SpO2 sensor – something not available in the SE model. Additionally, the ECG app is available exclusively on the Series 6, allowing users to take electrocardiogram readings directly from their wrists.

Family Setup Feature

Both these watches come with Family Setup – an option that lets you pair multiple watches to a single iPhone account. This is particularly useful for parents who want to stay connected with their children but may not wish to buy them iPhones yet.

Price

Cost plays a significant factor when choosing between these two smartwatches. The starting price for Series 6 stands at $399 for the GPS-only model and $499 for the GPS + Cellular variant. In comparison, the Apple Watch SE is priced at an affordable $279 for GPS-only and $329 for the GPS + Cellular option.

In conclusion, choosing between the Apple Watch Series 6 and Apple Watch SE depends on your preferences and budget. If exceptional health features are a priority, and you’re willing to pay more, consider opting for Series 6. However, if you’re looking for a budget-friendly smartwatch that still offers reliable performance, the Apple Watch SE is a fantastic choice.
