The Apple Magic Mouse is undoubtedly one of the most iconic peripherals in the tech industry. The Magic Mouse was first introduced back in 2009 and since then, it’s been an essential tool for Mac users. The second generation of the Magic Mouse was released in 2015, and it comes with a significant redesign and improved functionality. In this article, we’ll be reviewing the second-gen Magic Mouse to see if it lives up to the hype.

Design

The second-gen Magic Mouse features a sleek and modern design. It’s made of a single piece of aluminum, which makes it feel sturdy and durable. The overall build quality of the mouse is top-notch, and it’s undoubtedly a premium device. When you hold the mouse, it feels comfortable in your hand. The mouse is quite compact, which means it’s easy to carry around.

The most notable design change on the second-gen Magic Mouse is the absence of the battery cover at the bottom of the mouse. Instead, the mouse is rechargeable via a charging port at the bottom of the device. The charging port uses a lightning cable, which is the same cable used to charge iPhones and iPads. This feature is excellent as it means you don’t have to worry about replacing batteries regularly.

Functionality

The second-gen Magic Mouse comes with improved functionality. It features a multi-touch surface, which allows you to perform various gestures. These gestures include scrolling, swiping, and tapping on the mouse surface. The gestures are smooth and responsive, and the mouse provides haptic feedback, which makes it feel like you’re using a physical button.

The mouse also features a laser sensor, which provides accurate tracking. The sensor can work on various surfaces, including glass. This feature is excellent as it means you can use the mouse without a mouse pad on different surfaces.

Compatibility

The second-gen Magic Mouse is designed explicitly for use with Mac computers. It’s compatible with macOS 10.11 or later and requires Bluetooth connectivity. The mouse can also work with Windows computers, but you won’t have access to all of the gestures. If you’re a Mac user, this mouse is undoubtedly an excellent choice as it’s designed to work seamlessly with your computer.

Conclusion

The second-gen Apple Magic Mouse is undoubtedly an excellent peripheral. The premium build quality, sleek design, and improved functionality make it a worthy successor to the original Magic Mouse. The multi-touch surface is smooth and responsive, and the laser sensor provides accurate tracking. If you’re a Mac user looking for a premium mouse, then the second-gen Apple Magic Mouse is undoubtedly a great choice.
