Apple iPhone 8 Plus Review: iPhone X Power in a Friendly, Familiar (and Cheaper) Package

The Apple iPhone 8 Plus remains an attractive choice for those who want the performance of Apple’s flagship model without the hefty price tag. Released in September 2017, the iPhone 8 Plus still packs the power of the iPhone X into a more familiar and affordable package. In this review, we’ll take a closer look at what makes the iPhone 8 Plus an excellent option.

Design and Build

The iPhone 8 Plus continues the traditional design of its predecessors, with glass on the front and back, and an aluminum frame. At a time when smartphones are getting slimmer and lighter, the iPhone 8 Plus has a slightly chunky feel to it. However, it retains its premium look, thanks to its glossy finish. Available in Gold, Silver, and Space Gray, there’s an option for everyone. The chunkiness also serves a purpose – it offers great durability and resistance to drops and scratches.

Display

With a 5.5-inch Retina HD display, the iPhone 8 Plus provides true-to-life colors, sharp contrasts, and incredible detail, making it perfect for watching movies or playing games. The display also features Apple’s True Tone technology, which adjusts the color temperature based on ambient lighting conditions for a more comfortable viewing experience.

Performance

Underneath its traditional exterior lies the powerful A11 Bionic chip that provides unparalleled speed and efficiency. This chip also powers the iPhone X; thus you’ll harness similar processing capabilities as Apple’s flagship device but at a far lower price point. Multitasking is smooth and quick-app loading times are impressive.

Camera

The iPhone 8 Plus features dual 12-megapixel rear cameras with optical image stabilization for both lenses. This allows you to capture stunning photos in various lighting conditions while reducing blurs caused by shaky hands. The camera also includes a Portrait mode, which adds a professional touch by blurring the background and focusing on the subject. Lastly, it’s capable of recording 4K video at 60 frames per second.

Battery Life

Despite its powerful performance, the iPhone 8 Plus manages to deliver strong battery endurance. With moderate usage, you should be able to power through a full day without having to charge it. In addition, it supports wireless charging and fast charging capabilities – perfect for those on-the-go.

Price Point

Compared to newer models like the iPhone X or the iPhone 11 series, the iPhone 8 Plus is more affordable while still delivering solid performance. Although it lacks some of the latest features like Face ID and an OLED display, it’s a great option for those who want iPhone X’s power in a familiar format.

In conclusion, the Apple iPhone 8 Plus remains an excellent choice for users who want a powerful device at a more budget-friendly price. With its familiar design, impressive performance, and brilliant camera system, this smartphone delivers flagship-level features in an accessible package.
