Anyone Can Be an Artist with 6 eLearning Trends in Custom eLearning Solutions

With the simplicity of platform building tools out there today, anyone can build a Learning Management System (LMS). The truth is that many people are trying their hand at it. Unfortunately, many people are also failing to create the masterpiece they were envisioning. Why do they fail? Rather than giving you that answer, I am going to provide you with the secret to success. Anyone can be an artist with these six eLearning trends in custom eLearning solutions. Yes. Even you!

1. Create Microlearning

Rather than creating whole courses, many companies are creating micro-courses. These are merely smaller courses with a smaller number of modules and shorter learning videos. These, of course, can be priced much cheaper. Cost is one of the most well-known benefits of these courses.

Microlearning makes students happy for several reasons. One, as we have already discussed, they are easier on the pocketbook. Two, they cater to the short attention span. Three, they are better suited to a busy schedule. Four, students don’t feel like they’re trapped in a course forever, and five, they can complete their goals more quickly.

2. Say Goodbye to Flash-Based Content

Whatever you do, don’t create your courses using flash-based content!  Adobe Flash Player will be obsolete by the end of 2020. At that time, any flash-based content will have to be redesigned or converted to HTML5. If you start now by skipping the flash-based content altogether, you’ll also be skipping the headache!

3. Curate More Content

Now is the time to curate more original videos than ever! YouTube has become subscription-only and ad-heavy, and it’s only getting worse. There’s not much that you can effectively share can from there. Although Teachertube is a viable option for collecting content, you’ll still need to generate your own videos.

Some apps can make this simpler. Wondershare Filmora is an app for purchase that will make your job easy. It’s a great video editing tool. There are also many other options.

4. Gamification is Key

Gamification doesn’t necessarily have to do with gaming. Gamification is the effects that you add to an eLearning app or program to make it more fun to complete lessons. This is done by awarding and displaying badges, progress bars, pie charts, access to “levels of learning,” and more.

5. Apps Are Vital

LMS apps make the LMS more user friendly and accessible. They make eTeaching and eLearning much simpler. Instructors and learners are bound to be drawn to an LMS that has an app over one that doesn’t. Therefore, when you create your LMS, be sure to develop the app as well or at least have one in the process. If you don’t, someone else will be stealing your clients!

6. Learning Communities Are Where It’s At

When you create your LMS, you must consider the social-emotional needs of the students. It is especially vital during this time of social distancing. The last eLearning trend in custom eLearning solutions is to include opportunities in your eLearning platform for the students to interact and create meaningful connections. Many course creators are doing this by modeling their courses after social media apps.

Conclusion

Two other trends in eLearning are Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR), but they aren’t as vital as these other six. Applying these six eLearning trends in custom eLearning solutions when creating your eLearning platform will help your LMS or learning portal succeed. Now that you know what to include, the next step is to design your online course!
