The Anniston Army Depot has been awarded a $1.2 billion contract to refurbish and upgrade the U.S. Army’s fleet of Bradley Fighting Vehicles. This five-year agreement is expected to bring hundreds of new jobs to the area and secure the depot’s position as a critical component of national defense infrastructure.

The contract involves modernizing over 600 Bradley vehicles with state-of-the-art electronics, improved armor, and enhanced mobility systems. This upgrade will ensure that the U.S. Army maintains its technological edge on the battlefield.

Colonel Maria Rodriguez, commander of the Anniston Army Depot, expressed her enthusiasm: “This contract is a testament to the skill and dedication of our workforce. It will not only strengthen our national defense but also provide a significant economic boost to our community.”

Local officials estimate that the contract will create approximately 500 new jobs directly at the depot, with hundreds more in supporting industries. The economic impact is expected to ripple through the entire Anniston-Oxford metro area, potentially spurring further development and investment in the region.
