Animal Crossing: New Horizons Amiibo guide – How to invite new villagers

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is a wildly popular life simulation game that allows players to build and customize their own island. One of the key components of having a thriving island is inviting new villagers to come and live there. In this guide, we’ll teach you how to use amiibo for this purpose.

Amiibo are collectible figurines created by Nintendo that can be used in various games, offering additional functionality or unlocking special content. In Animal Crossing: New Horizons, this tool can be used to invite new villagers to your island. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to do so:

1. Acquire the Amiibo of your desired villager.

To get started, you will need an amiibo of the character you wish to invite. These can usually be found online on websites such as Amazon or eBay, or in physical stores like Best Buy or GameStop.

2. Create the Campsite on your island.

You must have a Campsite constructed, which becomes available after progressing far enough in the game. To do this, speak with Tom Nook at Resident Services and select “Let’s talk infrastructure,” followed by selecting “Campsite construction kit.” Once built, visitors will occasionally appear at your Campsite.

3. Use your amiibo at the Nook Stop terminal.

Head over to Resident Services and interact with the Nook Stop terminal located within the building. Once there, select “Invite a camper” from the options provided. You’ll then be prompted to place your amiibo on your Nintendo Switch system (on the right Joy-Con stick for Switch and in the NFC touchpoint for Switch Lite).

4. Invite your desired villager to visit.

When you’ve successfully scanned your amiibo, the desired villager will visit your Campsite immediately. Pay them a visit by going to their tent and talk to them. During your conversation, the villager will mention a specific crafted item they desire. Make sure to remember or even take a screenshot of this item.

5. Craft the requested item.

Collect the necessary materials and craft the requested item using your DIY Workbench (either at your house or Resident Services). If you’re missing the DIY recipe, don’t worry, as the visiting villager will give it to you.

6. Give them their desired item.

Return to the visiting villager’s tent and hand over the crafted item. As a thank you, they will give you a gift in return.

7. Invite them to join your island.

To invite a camper, you may need to prove that you are skilled enough by crafting specific items for them on three separate occasions (it can be done on different days). Once they agree, head back to Resident Services and talk to Tom Nook to prepare a plot for their house.

8. Wait for their arrival.

It may take up to one day for your new villager to move in, so be patient! Keep an eye out for their house construction and visit them once they have settled into their new home.

Congratulations! You’ve successfully used an amiibo to invite a new villager in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Now that you know how it works, feel free to experiment with more amiibo and fill your island with unique characters!
