As teachers, it is important to make learning interesting and fun for students. When it comes to maths, identifying shapes traced from solids can be a challenging task for students. However, there are a variety of activities that can make it easier for them to learn and have fun at the same time.

1. Show and Tell:

Show students a solid object such as a sphere, cube, pyramid, or cylinder, and ask them to identify the shape that is traced from it. This activity can be done in a group or individually, and can be repeated with different objects.

2. Memory Game:

Create cards that have images of solids and the corresponding shapes traced from them. Place the cards face down on the table and ask students to pick two cards at a time to check if they match. If they do, the student can keep the pair and play again. If not, the cards are returned to the table and the next student takes a turn.

3. Shape Hunt:

Take students outdoors and ask them to look for objects that are in the shape of those traced from solids. For example, they may find cylinders in the form of pillars or fences, or cones in the shape of traffic cones or ice cream cones. This activity can be turned into a scavenger hunt.

4. Playdough Creations:

Give each student a ball of playdough and a solid object such as a cube. Ask them to create the same shape as the one traced from the cube, using the playdough. Students can also be challenged to create different shapes from the same solid.

5. Tangram Puzzles:

Tangram is a puzzle that uses seven shapes, including a square, parallelogram, and five triangles. Students can use the shapes to create a variety of different objects such as animals, vehicles, or houses. This activity allows for creativity and problem-solving as students experiment with different combinations of shapes.

In conclusion, teaching students to identify shapes traced from solids can be made interesting and enjoyable with a variety of activities. Using a combination of these activities in the classroom can help students retain the information while having fun. By creating a hands-on and interactive learning environment, teachers can keep their students engaged and interested in the learning process.

About Us

Since technology is not going anywhere and does more good than harm, adapting is the best course of action. That is where The Tech Edvocate comes in. We plan to cover the PreK-12 and Higher Education EdTech sectors and provide our readers with the latest news and opinion on the subject. From time to time, I will invite other voices to weigh in on important issues in EdTech. We hope to provide a well-rounded, multi-faceted look at the past, present, the future of EdTech in the US and internationally.

We started this journey back in June 2016, and we plan to continue it for many more years to come. I hope that you will join us in this discussion of the past, present and future of EdTech and lend your own insight to the issues that are discussed.
