When creating a spreadsheet in Excel, you may want to add objects such as charts, pictures, or shapes to help illustrate your data. These objects can be resized using sizing handles, which are small boxes or circles that appear around the object when it is selected.

Here’s how to use sizing handles in Excel to resize objects:

Step 1: Select the Object

To select an object, click on it with your mouse. You will know that an object is selected when sizing handles appear around it.

Step 2: Use the Sizing Handles

To resize the object, click and drag one of the sizing handles. There are eight sizing handles in total: one in each corner and one in the middle of each side.

1. Corner sizing handles: These allow you to resize the object proportionally in both directions. To maintain the object’s aspect ratio, hold down the Shift key while dragging the sizing handle.

2. Side sizing handles: These allow you to resize the object in only one direction. To maintain the object’s current width or height, hold down the Ctrl key while dragging the sizing handle.

Step 3: Check the Object’s Size

To check the object’s size, right-click on it and select “Size and Properties” from the menu. This will open the Format Object dialog box, where you can view the object’s dimensions in inches or centimeters.

Tips and Tricks

1. To move an object without resizing it, click and drag it with your mouse.

2. To resize multiple objects at once, select all the objects you want to resize and then drag a sizing handle.

3. To resize an object to a specific size, right-click on it and select “Size and Properties” from the menu. In the Format Object dialog box, enter the desired dimensions.

4. To resize a chart, select it and then drag one of the corner sizing handles. This will resize both the chart and its plot area.

By following these simple steps, you can easily resize objects in Excel using sizing handles. With a little practice, you’ll be able to create professional-looking spreadsheets with ease.
