Windows boot log can prove to be a very useful tool to diagnose and fix various boot and startup related issues on your computer. It keeps a record of all the activities that take place during the boot process, and by analyzing this log file, you can easily identify any problems that may be causing your Windows system to fail or take longer to boot up.

Enabling Boot Logging

Before you can find your boot log, you will need to enable it. Here’s how you can do it:

Step 1: Press the Win + R keys to open the Run dialog box. Type “msconfig” in the text box and then hit Enter.

Step 2: In the System Configuration window, select the Boot tab.

Step 3: Check the checkbox next to “Boot log” under the Boot options section.

Step 4: Click on the Apply button, followed by OK.

Step 5: Reboot your system for the changes to take effect.

Once you have enabled the boot logging, your computer will create a log file every time you boot up your system. These log files can be very helpful in identifying any problems that may be preventing your system from booting up properly.

Finding Your Boot Log

After enabling boot logging, you can find your Windows boot log in Event Viewer. Follow these steps to access your boot log:

Step 1: Press the Win + X keys to open the Power User Menu.

Step 2: Select Event Viewer from the list.

Step 3: In the Event Viewer window, go to Windows Logs > System.

Step 4: Look for an entry named “EventLog” with an Event ID of 6009. This entry signifies the start of the boot process and is the beginning of your boot log.

Step 5: Scroll down to find any errors or warnings that may have occurred during the boot process. These errors and warnings can help you identify any issues that may be causing problems with your system.
