Setting up a Google Nest Mini, or Home Mini, is a quick and easy process that anyone can do. With just a few simple steps, you can enjoy the convenience of having a voice assistant in your home.

Before Getting Started

First, make sure you have a stable Wi-Fi connection and a smartphone or tablet with the Google Home app installed. Additionally, you’ll need to have a Google account, which you can easily create if you don’t already have one.

Step 1: Plug in the Google Nest Mini

Plug in your Google Nest Mini into a power outlet. It will take a few moments to turn on and prepare itself for setup.

Step 2: Open the Google Home App

Open the Google Home app on your smartphone or tablet.

Step 3: Add a New Device

Select the “Add” button (plus sign) at the top-left corner of the app. This will take you to the “Add and manage” screen.

Step 4: Set Up a New Device

Tap “Set up a device” and select “Create new home” if you don’t already have one created. Follow the prompts to select your language and connect to your Wi-Fi network.

Step 5: Find Your Device

The app should begin automatically scanning for nearby devices. When it finds your Google Nest Mini, select it.

Step 6: Confirm Your Location

Confirm the location of your device, which will help you send commands that are more contextually relevant to your location.

Step 7: Link to Your Google Account

Sign in to your Google account and complete the setup process. This will link your Google assistant to your account and allow it to recognize your voice and personalize your experience.

Step 8: Customize Your Settings

After the setup process is complete, you can customize your settings, including your device name, voice recognition, and more. You can also choose which music or video services to link to your Google assistant.

About Us

Since technology is not going anywhere and does more good than harm, adapting is the best course of action. That is where The Tech Edvocate comes in. We plan to cover the PreK-12 and Higher Education EdTech sectors and provide our readers with the latest news and opinion on the subject. From time to time, I will invite other voices to weigh in on important issues in EdTech. We hope to provide a well-rounded, multi-faceted look at the past, present, the future of EdTech in the US and internationally.

We started this journey back in June 2016, and we plan to continue it for many more years to come. I hope that you will join us in this discussion of the past, present and future of EdTech and lend your own insight to the issues that are discussed.
