If you’re using a Microsoft account for your personal or work purposes, you know that it’s an essential part of your online presence. Your Microsoft account not only helps you access your Microsoft services, but it’s also used for logging into other applications and devices. Because of this, Microsoft ensures security for your account by allowing you to add a recovery email address. This recovery email address is used to retrieve your account password in case you forget it or lose access to your account.

Adding a recovery email address to your Microsoft account is a quick and easy process that can be done in a few simple steps. Here’s how:

Step 1: Access the Microsoft account page

First, go to the Microsoft account sign-in page and sign in with your account email and password.

Step 2: Navigate to the Security tab

Once you’re logged in, navigate to the Security tab. This tab is located at the top of the page in the blue menu bar.

Step 3: Add a recovery email address

Under the Security tab, you’ll see several options for securing your account. Find the option labeled “Update my security info” and click on it. From there, navigate to the “Email addresses” section, and click “Add email”. In the new dialog box, enter your recovery email address, and confirm it by entering it again.

Step 4: Verify your recovery email

After adding your recovery email, Microsoft will send you a verification email to the address you provided. Check your email and follow the instructions to verify your recovery email address. Once verified, your email address will be added to your Microsoft account.

That’s it! You’ve successfully added a recovery email address to your Microsoft account, and now you can rest assured knowing that you’ll be able to retrieve your account if you ever forget your password.

In conclusion, adding a recovery email address to your Microsoft account is a crucial step in ensuring the security of your account. With just a few simple steps, you can add this essential layer of protection to your account and enjoy a peace of mind knowing that your online presence is safe and secure.

About Us

Since technology is not going anywhere and does more good than harm, adapting is the best course of action. That is where The Tech Edvocate comes in. We plan to cover the PreK-12 and Higher Education EdTech sectors and provide our readers with the latest news and opinion on the subject. From time to time, I will invite other voices to weigh in on important issues in EdTech. We hope to provide a well-rounded, multi-faceted look at the past, present, the future of EdTech in the US and internationally.

We started this journey back in June 2016, and we plan to continue it for many more years to come. I hope that you will join us in this discussion of the past, present and future of EdTech and lend your own insight to the issues that are discussed.
