If you have recently purchased a new computer or laptop, you would definitely want to transfer important and useful data from the old computer. You can easily transfer data from PC to PC using external storage devices or cloud storage. However, one of the quickest and hassle-free ways to transfer data from one PC to another is through a USB cable.

Transfer of data using USB cable is faster and easier. You do not require internet connectivity and, therefore, can comfortably transfer data from one computer to another, even when there is no internet access. Follow the steps mentioned below to transfer data from PC to PC using a USB cable:

Step 1: Connect USB cable

The initial step is to connect the USB cable to the old PC or laptop and the new one. In case the two computers do not have USB ports, you can use other USB devices such as external hard drives, memory sticks, or card readers.

Step 2: Identify data to be transferred

Before transferring data, you must identify the necessary folders or files to be transferred from your old computer to your new device. It is advisable to clean unnecessary files and folders to ensure that the storage space on the new device does not get overloaded.

Step 3: Select the data to be transferred

After identifying needed data, move to the next step of selecting the data. You can select a single file or select an entire folder to transfer. To select the necessary data, hover over the folder, and right-click the folder or file. You will see a ‘copy’ option in the context menu. Clicking the ‘Copy’ button will move the data to the clipboard.

Step 4: Paste data to new PC

The copied data is now on the clipboard of the old computer. Now, proceed to the new PC. Right-click on the folder or file area where the data needs to be transferred. You will see the ‘paste’ option in the context menu. Clicking on the ‘paste’ button will transfer the data from the old PC to the new one.

Step 5: Check the transferred data

Once the transfer is complete, open files and folders related to transferred data to ensure that they work correctly. In case of any problem, you may copy the data again and transfer them to the new PC.

Conclusion

Conclusively, transferring data from PC to PC using a USB cable is not only convenient but is essential when internet connectivity is not available. It is a speedy and straightforward process and requires a few simple clicks to initiate the transfer process. So, next time you plan to transfer data to the new device, make use of the USB cable method and enjoy hassle-free data transfer.
