Spread the love

Books inspire children and introducing literature from an early age can boost a baby’s development. They are encouraged to be creative and let their imaginations run free. You can start with board books and eventually move on to chapter stories. When your child is old enough, they’ll likely read independently from you.

To encourage your children to read, you should choose books that are age-appropriate and fun for them to learn. So, what are the best books for your children?

  • Guess How Much I Love You

Sam McBratney’s Guess How Much I Love You is a flawless tale to read to your baby. The book helps to tell the tale of unconditional love by parents. Its plain-speaking language and illustrations will have your baby enthralled for hours to come.

  • Where the Wild Things Are

Your child’s library isn’t complete without Where the Wild Things Are. The story by Maurice Sendek is imaginative and inspires your children to unleash their creative side.

  • Horton Hears a Who!

Dr. Seuss is an excellent storyteller, and your toddler will adore the story of Horton Hears a Who! It’s timeless and the fun rhymes and beautiful illustrations make this book a must-have. Its message is simple but so moving.

  • The Velveteen Rabbit

Margery Williams Bianco’s The Velveteen Rabbit is beautiful and a treasure for children everywhere. It’s great for a growing child who’ll listen to longer tales.

  • Winnie the Pooh

Share the magic of Christopher Robin, Pooh Bear, and Piglet with your children. A.A. Milne’s timeless classic Winnie-the-Pooh is great for children and adults alike. There are even audio versions available for car journeys.

  • Charlotte’s Web

E.B. White created the magical and moving Charlotte’s Web. When your children get older and are ready for chapter books, Charlotte’s Web is an ideal choice. It introduces different characters, emotional plotlines, and chapters.

  • The Little Prince

The Little Prince is a wonderful book by Antoine de Saint-Exupery. It introduces children to symbolism and different themes. The book is perfect for children who are growing and starting to mature.

  • The Lion, the Watch. And the Wardrobe

C.S. Lewis created the unique world of Narnia and The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe is a classic choice for independent readers. It’s a beautiful story and it captures the imagination to the fullest. It’s wonderfully written and enjoyable for all ages.

  • Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is a classic in children’s literature and remains a unique tale. Roald Dahl is one of the world’s most popular – and adored – children’s authors. His stories are creative, quirky, and extremely entertaining. Dahl’s unique stories grab a child’s attention from the start, and they’ll love to read right to the final chapter.

  • Where the Sidewalk Ends

Where The Sidewalk Ends is one of the most beloved poetry collections. Written by Shel Silverstone, it is adored by adults and children alike and is a great introduction to poetry.

Create Storytime at Home

Creating a small library at home can encourage your children to read. Start from board books and move on to chapter stories when the child grows. You can make reading a special time for you both to enjoy.
