Do you want to work as a teacher in the great state of Kansas? If that’s the case, you have come to the correct place. A short article on the processes of becoming a teacher in Kansas may be found below.

Step 1: Complete a Teacher Preparation Program that has been Approved

Educators must have at least a bachelor’s degree to teach in the United States. To gain certification in Kansas, students must finish a state-approved teacher education program. The Kansas Department of Preparation Programs and Institutions website lists authorized teacher education programs in the state.

Some states in the United States have their course and semester-hour requirements. Kansas does not specify precise course or semester-hour requirements, but each teacher education program at a college or university will have their own set of prerequisites. For further information, contact your teacher education program or the Department of Education.

Curriculum and field experiences are the two main components of teacher education programs. Teaching basic skills, pedagogy (the science of teaching), and training students to research, design, and execute learning experiences in their field of study are all part of the curriculum. Field observations, internships, student teaching, or an amalgamation of all three are common field experiences. For further information on particular criteria, contact your teacher education program or the Department of Education.

Step 2: Pass the Requisite Exams

Most states in the United States require tests to demonstrate ability in both Basic Skills and the selected Subject Area. Only the Praxis II: Subject Exams in your specialist area, as well as the Praxis II: Principles of Learning and Teaching test, are required in Kansas.

Kansas grants three sorts of licenses: initial (for the first two years of teaching), professional (which requires a performance review and is valid for five years), and accomplished (which is valid for ten years). To learn more about acquiring your Kansas teaching credential, go to the Kansas Department of Education’s Teacher Licensure and Accreditation website.

Step 3: Complete and present an Application for a Teaching Credential in Kansas.

You may apply for a teaching license in Kansas if you have completed all of your educational commitments, fulfilled your student teaching requirements, and passed all of the relevant tests. Your university’s licensure officer will take you through the application procedure, which may be completed online. Fill out your section of the application, then email it electronically to the licensure officer for your program so they can finish it. Last but not least, pay the application dues online.
