9 Ways to Evolve Onix

Onix, the iconic Rock/Ground-type Pokémon, has been enhancing the game experience for trainers since the first generation. However, its limited moveset and stats have led many trainers to seek methods to evolve it into a stronger form. There are nine ways for Onix to reach its full potential in various Pokémon games. This article explores these methods, helping you develop a more formidable Onix.

1.Trade Evolution: The most common method to evolve Onix is through trading with a Metal Coat. Attaching a Metal Coat to Onix before trading allows it to evolve into Steelix, a powerful Steel/Ground type Pokémon with improved stats.

2.Mega Evolution: In addition to evolving into Steelix through trade, Onix can also Mega Evolve into Mega Steelix when equipped with Steelixite, further boosting its stats.

3.Level up at Geothermal Field: In Pokémon Sword and Shield games, leveling up an Onix in specific regions like the Geothermal Field can trigger its evolution into Steelix.

4.Raise Friendship Level: Raising an Onix’s friendship level by treating it well can make it receptive to a unique evolution method available only in certain regions or games.

5.Use of an Eviolite: Although not an actual evolution, players can provide their Onix with an Eviolite item that will boost the Defense and Special Defense of any Pokémon that still has an available evolution.

6.Alolan Variant: Though no official Alolan Variant of Onix currently exists, hypothetical speculations about such an evolution include transforming it into a Rock/Water or Rock/Ice type with augmented abilities.

7.Gigantamax Form: Some Pokémon are able to temporarily transform into enormous and powerful forms called Gigantamax. Like the Alolan Variant, there is no official Gigantamax Form for Onix yet, but it would make a thrilling additional way to evolve this classic Pokémon in future games.

8.Regional Evolutions: Pokémon from specific regions might have unique evolutions, such as Galarian or Sinnoh variants. A potential Galarian Onix or Sinnoh Onix with an exclusive evolution could be an exciting development for trainers to explore.

9.Split Evolution Path: Another possibility is the introduction of a split evolution path, wherein Onix could evolve into different Pokémon depending on specific conditions. This method allows trainers more flexibility and strategy in evolving their Onix.

In conclusion, there are currently three main ways to evolve Onix – trade evolution, Mega Evolution, and leveling up in specific regions. However, considering the rich history of the Pokémon world and its ever-growing list of species, moves, and abilities, there is always room for exploring new options to turn your Onix into the ultimate Pokémon champion.
