Introduction:

Liquid starch is a versatile and essential household item that can be used for various purposes. From stiffening fabrics and laundry to providing adhesive assistance in crafting projects, liquid starch should be part of your home essentials. Making liquid starch is simple and cost-effective. Here are 12 easy steps to make liquid starch at home.

1. Gather your materials:

– 1/2 cup of cold water

– 2 cups of boiling water

– 1 tablespoon of cornstarch

– A whisk or fork

– A saucepan

– A storage container

2. Dissolve the cornstarch: In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch with the cold water, ensuring there are no lumps.

3. Boil the water: In a saucepan, bring 2 cups of water to a boil.

3. Slowly add in the cornstarch mixture: As the water boils, slowly pour in the cornstarch mixture while continuously whisking.

4. Maintain medium heat: Reduce the heat to medium and continue to whisk the mixture.

5. Wait for thickening: Cook the mixture, whisking occasionally, until it begins to thicken (about 3-5 minutes).

6. Remove from heat: Once you have achieved your desired thickness, remove the saucepan from heat and allow it to cool slightly.

7. Add optional fragrance (optional): If you desire added fragrance or essential oils, now is the time to incorporate those as well (a few drops should suffice).

8. Further cooling: Allow the liquid starch mixture to cool further before transferring it into your storage container.

9. Transfer to storage container: Pour your cooled liquid starch into an airtight storage container (a clean and repurposed spray bottle works well).

10. Label and store properly: Be sure to label your container with the contents and date so you can easily identify it in storage.

11. Usage: Your homemade liquid starch is now ready to be used for laundry, crafting, or any other purpose you see fit!

Conclusion:

Making liquid starch at home is easy, economical, and eco-friendly. This simple 12-step process will provide you with an effective and convenient solution for a variety of household tasks. Give it a try and enjoy the satisfaction of using a homemade product that suits your needs perfectly!
