The Garden State may not spring to mind as a winter wonderland, but New Jersey is home to charming towns that shine during the colder months. Whether you’re after picturesque snowfalls, cozy downtown areas, or festive holiday events, these eight towns offer the perfect backdrop for a delightful winter getaway.

1.Cape May – Known for its Victorian architecture and historic charm, Cape May dazzles in winter with its Christmas candlelight house tours and holiday decorations that transform this seaside town into something from a Dickens novel.

2.Lambertville – This quaint town on the Delaware River becomes a frosty haven in winter. Stroll through Lambertville’s antique shops and art galleries, and don’t miss the winter festival that features ice sculptures and live performances.

3.Montclair – Montclair offers an urban vibe with suburban comfort. During winter, the Montclair Film Festival lights up the cultural scene, while the town’s restaurants and coffee shops provide cozy refuges from the cold.

4.Princeton – Home to the prestigious Princeton University, this town is more than just an educational hub. Winter sees Palmer Square adorned with festive lights and the sounds of carolers filling Nassau Street.

5.Red Bank – This vibrant Shore town doesn’t lose steam in winter. Indulge in some holiday shopping at Red Bank’s boutiques or take in a show at the historic Count Basie Theater.

6.Clinton – With picturesque views along the Raritan River which includes a stunning waterfall and historic Red Mill, Clinton is postcard-perfect in winter. The Red Mill Museum Village hosts various events that embrace the spirit of the season.

7.Chester – Chester is famous for its craft stores and colonial architecture that seem all the more inviting when dusted with snow. Winter weekends can be spent searching for treasures within its antique shops or enjoying homemade fare at local eateries.

8.Hoboken – Though just across the river from Manhattan, Hoboken has a unique charm of its own with spectacular city views. Visit Pier A Park for breathtaking views of the New York City skyline lit up at night, or warm up with world-class Italian cuisine on Washington Street.

Whether you’re looking for peaceful strolls, cultural experiences or festive fun, New Jersey’s small towns offer some of the best activities to make your winter getaway memorable.

About Us

Since technology is not going anywhere and does more good than harm, adapting is the best course of action. That is where The Tech Edvocate comes in. We plan to cover the PreK-12 and Higher Education EdTech sectors and provide our readers with the latest news and opinion on the subject. From time to time, I will invite other voices to weigh in on important issues in EdTech. We hope to provide a well-rounded, multi-faceted look at the past, present, the future of EdTech in the US and internationally.

We started this journey back in June 2016, and we plan to continue it for many more years to come. I hope that you will join us in this discussion of the past, present and future of EdTech and lend your own insight to the issues that are discussed.
