The Key To Ed-tech Success

New technology is always coming out that teachers and educators can implement to make their lives and their students’ lives easier. An excellent type of technology that is being used by modern schools is ed-tech.

Educational technology refers to the use of IT tools in schools. This is done to enhance learning and bring innovation into the classroom. However, ed-tech will not have the desired effect in the classroom if it is not used correctly. Here, we will be discussing the key to ed-tech success.

What Is the Key To Edtech Success?

Many factors influence the success of ed-tech in the educational environment. For example, the content you display to your students via the technology needs to be related to and relevant to the syllabus. It would make no sense to watch a new Marvel movie trailer in a math class.

However, even though there are so many different factors, one, particularly, stands out as the most important. People are crucial to the success of ed-tech in schools. There are various reasons for this, and we will discuss them below.

Why Are People the Key To Edtech Success?

Edtech would simply not suffice in providing students with sufficient knowledge on their own. Teachers are absolutely vital in describing the work and helping students with any problems that they may have.

In simple terms, technology is an augmentation to a teacher. It can be used to help students with their understanding of work through activities, materials, and even games. However, all of these materials would be pointless without having a teacher there to explain the section first.

Even after teachers have explained the work, they should use ed-tech with their students to pick up on any common errors or misunderstandings. More so, educators are needed to select appropriate ed-tech material.

What Else Can Be Done To Make Edtech Even More Successful In Schools?

As we have mentioned, there are plenty of factors that influence ed-tech’s success in the educational environment.

We already know that relevant material should be selected for education technology to be effective. More so, teachers need to ensure that there is a good balance between technology time and normal teaching time. This is because some students learn better through verbal lessons, and many students require a teacher to go through the work in-depth with them.

For example, a new app called Pedagogue has recently been released and can be used by teachers to create lessons via 30 lesson plan templates. Students can also use it to create a ‘virtual classroom.’ Students can discuss work with their classmates and educators via video conferencing calls and audio chats.

Conclusion

Educational technology is the use of IT tools in schools. There are plenty of factors that can determine how successful ed-tech is in the academic environment.

However, the key to ed-tech success is having teachers around to decide when it should and shouldn’t be used. They also control what content their students see, so they need to find relevant materials related to the section of work they are teaching their class.

Another factor that is very important for obtaining success through ed-tech is the balance between technology time and teaching time. This is because some students learn better through verbal lessons. Additionally, many students require in-depth explanations that only teachers can provide.
