The Assassin’s Creed series has captivated gamers with its blend of historical fiction, adventure, and stealth gameplay. Spanning over a decade and evolving from its initial release, each installment has brought something new to the table. Here’s a look at every Assassin’s Creed game, ranked from worst to best.

14. Assassin’s Creed: Bloodlines – While an earnest attempt at bringing the franchise to handheld devices, Bloodlines fell flat due to limited gameplay and hardware constraints.

13. Assassin’s Creed Unity – Despite a beautiful recreation of Revolutionary Paris, Unity was plagued by technical issues at launch that significantly impacted players’ experiences.

12. Assassin’s Creed III – Launching with much anticipation, AC III introduced naval warfare but was criticized for its slow pace and lackluster protagonist.

11. Assassin’s Creed Syndicate – Set in Victorian London, Syndicate refined many elements of the series but failed to innovate or engage players in the same way earlier titles did.

10. Assassin’s Creed: Revelations – Concluding Ezio’s story, Revelations was enjoyable but didn’t do much to progress the series formula.

9. Assassin’s Creed Rogue – A surprising entry that turned the tables by having you play as a Templar, Rogue had a compelling narrative but was overshadowed by other titles at the time.

8. Assassin’s Creed: Altair’s Chronicles – This prequel expanded on Altair’s backstory with new mechanics and a fresh mobile experience despite limitations on earlier devices.

7. Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag – Lauded for its open-world pirate adventure and naval battles, Black Flag stood out for its freedom and exploration but strayed a bit from traditional AC gameplay.

6.  Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood – Building on AC II’s success, Brotherhood introduced multiplayer and strategic command of an assassin brotherhood, albeit in a familiar setting.

5. Assassin’s Creed Origins – A soft reboot for the series set in ancient Egypt, Origins revamped combat and introduced RPG elements that have defined newer entries in the series.

4. Assassin’s Creed Odyssey – Taking the series further into RPG territory with ancient Greece as its playground, Odyssey offered choice-driven narrative and expansive content.

3.  Assassin’s Creed Valhalla – As a Viking raider in medieval England, Valhalla polished and perfected many elements from its predecessors while delivering an engaging story.

2. Assassin’s Creed II – A fan favorite, AC II enhanced everything from the first game and gave us one of gaming’s most beloved protagonists: Ezio Auditore da Firenze.

1. Assassin’s Creed – The original that started it all remains unmatched for its influential game design and introduction of core mechanics like social stealth and parkour traversal through historic settings.

While each game has something to offer fans of the series, some stand out for their contributions to gameplay innovation, storytelling excellence, and overall fun factor. With ongoing expansions in lore and various historical timelines explored with each release, it remains thrilling to see where the hidden blade will strike next in the world of Assassin’s Creed.
