The 4 Best Core Workouts To Melt Belly Fat

Abdominal fat can be stubborn, but with the right core workouts, you can tone your midsection and help melt away that belly fat. Here are the 4 best core exercises to incorporate into your fitness routine for a stronger, slimmer waistline.

1. Planks – Planks are a powerhouse when it comes to ab workouts because they work all the muscles in your core. Perform a plank by getting into a push-up position but resting on your forearms instead of your hands. Keep your back straight and hold the position for as long as possible. Aim for 30 seconds to a minute and increase as you improve.

2. Bicycle Crunches – This exercise is excellent for targeting the obliques as well as the rectus abdominis. Lie on your back with your hands behind your head and lift your legs to a 90-degree angle. Bring one knee towards your chest while extending the other leg out and twist so that the opposite elbow meets your knee. Alternate sides in a ‘pedaling’ motion.

3. Russian Twists – Sit on the ground with your knees bent, lean slightly back without rounding your spine, and lift your feet off the floor if you can maintain balance. Hold a weight or medicine ball with both hands in front of you and twist your torso to the right and then to the left, engaging those side muscles (obliques).

4. Mountain Climbers – Beginning in a plank position, drive one knee forward towards its corresponding elbow, then switch quickly so that one knee is always driving forward while the other is extending back. This not only works your core but also increases your heart rate, which can help burn more fat overall.

Incorporating these exercises into your routine can not only strengthen and define your abs but can also help reduce belly fat when combined with a healthy diet and regular cardiovascular exercise. Remember that spot reduction is a myth; to lose belly fat, you need to focus on total body fitness.
