If you are struggling with dark mode not functioning correctly in Chrome on your Android or iPhone device, you’re not alone. This article outlines six potential solutions to restore dark mode and enhance your browsing experience.

1. Check Chrome’s Theme Settings:

Before diving into more complex solutions, ensure that dark mode is enabled in Chrome’s settings. Navigate to Chrome settings, select ‘Theme,’ and make sure ‘Dark’ is selected.

2. Update Google Chrome:

Sometimes, a simple update can fix numerous issues, including dark mode problems. Check if there is an available update for Chrome in the App Store or Google Play Store and install it.

3. Restart Your Device:

A classic fix that often works wonders. Turn your device off and on again to clear temporary glitches that could be affecting Chrome’s performance.

4. Disable Battery Saver Mode:

On both Android and iPhone, battery saver modes can interfere with some apps’ functionality, including dark mode. Disable battery saver or low power mode and check if this resolves the issue.

5. Check System-Wide Dark Mode Settings:

Some devices have a system-wide dark mode that needs to be enabled for apps to follow suit. Ensure this setting is turned on in your device’s display settings.

6. Reinstall Google Chrome:

If all else fails, try uninstalling and reinstalling Chrome on your device. This can refresh the app’s data and potentially resolve any conflicts preventing dark mode from working properly.

With these fixes, dark mode should be back to its usual self, allowing for a more comfortable browsing experience in low-light environments.
