Step 1: Choose your fabric

Add a topstitch along both long edges of the belt, roughly 1/8 inch from the edge. This will keep the belt flat and neat.

Step 12: Choose a closure

Decide on a closure style for your belt, such as a buckle or Velcro. Attach it to one or both ends of your fabric belt according to your preference.

Step 13: Create belt loops (optional)

If you prefer, create loops for your belt by cutting small strips of fabric and sewing them onto the garment you’ll be wearing the belt with. You can also use ribbon or elastic to make these loops.
