Introduction:

Tres Leches Cake is a popular dessert in Latin America that has quickly gained popularity across the globe. It’s a sponge cake soaked in three different types of milk: evaporated milk, condensed milk, and whole milk or heavy cream. This delectable dessert is incredibly moist, flavorful, and perfect for satisfying your sweet tooth. In this article, we’ll share the best Tres Leches Cake recipe and provide step-by-step instructions on how to make it.

Ingredients:

– 1 cup all-purpose flour

– 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder

– 1/4 teaspoon salt

– 5 large eggs, separated

– 1 cup granulated sugar, divided

– 1/3 cup whole milk

– 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

– 12 ounces evaporated milk

– 14 ounces sweetened condensed milk

– 1/4 cup whole milk or heavy cream

For the whipped topping:

– 2 cups heavy whipping cream

– 1/4 cup powdered sugar

– 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions:

Step 1: Preheat Oven and Prepare Pan

Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C). Grease a 9×13-inch cake pan with non-stick spray or butter and set it aside.

Step 2: Combine Dry Ingredients

In a medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.

Step 3: Beat Egg Whites and Sugar

In a large mixing bowl with an electric mixer or stand mixer fitted with a whisk attachment, beat the egg whites on high speed until soft peaks form. Gradually add in 1/4 cup of granulated sugar while continuing to beat on high speed until stiff peaks form.

Step 4: Mix Egg Yolks and Sugar

In another large mixing bowl, beat the egg yolks with the remaining 3/4 cup of granulated sugar until they become a pale yellow color. Stir in the 1/3 cup of whole milk and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract.

Step 5: Combine Mixtures

Gently fold the dry ingredients into the egg yolk mixture until just combined. Then, fold in the beaten egg whites until fully incorporated, taking care not to deflate the sponge cake mixture.

Step 6: Bake

Pour the cake batter into the prepared pan and evenly distribute it. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Allow the cake to cool completely.

Step 7: Prepare Milk Mixture

In a large measuring cup or bowl, whisk together the evaporated milk, sweetened condensed milk, and whole milk or heavy cream.

Step 8: Pierce and Soak

Once your cake has cooled, use a fork to pierce holes all over its surface. Pour the milk mixture evenly over the top, allowing it to soak into the holes you created. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours to overnight.

Step 9: Whipped Topping

In a chilled mixing bowl, pour in heavy whipping cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract. Whip on high speed with an electric mixer or stand mixer fitted with a whisk attachment until stiff peaks form. Spread over chilled Tres Leches Cake and serve.

Conclusion:

This Tres Leches Cake recipe is sure to impress your family and friends with its moist texture and incredible flavor. The combination of milks creates a creamy taste that complements any meal perfectly. Give this recipe a try, and you’ll be hooked on this delightful dessert!
