Costco, a membership-based warehouse club, provides excellent savings and shopping convenience for its members. However, selecting the right credit card to use at Costco can enhance your savings and bring additional perks. In this article, we’ll discuss the best credit cards to use at Costco to optimize your shopping experience.

1. Costco Anywhere Visa Card by Citi

The all-time favorite credit card choice for Costco shoppers, it offers fantastic rewards tailored specifically for Costco members. A few of its key benefits include:

– 4% cashback on eligible gas purchases (up to $7,000 per year)

– 3% cashback on restaurants and eligible travel purchases

– 2% cashback on all purchases at Costco and Costco.com

– 1% cashback on all other purchases

However, this card doesn’t have a sign-up bonus and cashback rewards are redeemable only at Costco.

2. Chase Freedom Flex

Chase Freedom Flex is a popular card featuring rotating bonus categories that change each quarter. While it may not always offer high rewards for your everyday shopping, when active for the wholesale club category, it can provide a whopping 5% cashback on up to $1,500 in combined bonus category purchases per quarter. Additionally, you’ll earn unlimited 1% cashback on all other purchases. Besides these benefits, Chase Freedom Flex offers a $200 sign-up bonus after spending $500 in the first three months after opening an account.

3. Discover it Cash Back

Similar to Chase Freedom Flex, Discover it Cash Back is another rotating bonus category card offering 5% cashback on up to $1,500 in purchases in various categories each quarter when activated. You’ll get unlimited 1% cashback on other purchases. Look out for the quarters when Costco is included among the selected bonus categories to maximize your returns. As an added benefit, Discover will match all the cashback earned at the end of the first year for new cardholders, essentially doubling your rewards.

4. Bank of America Cash Rewards

Bank of America Cash Rewards allows you to choose a category for 3% cashback each month and offers 2% at grocery stores and wholesale clubs (including Costco) on combined spending up to $2,500 each quarter. This card is a good option if you have other shopping categories where you spend more regularly and want to maximize your rewards alongside Costco purchases. Moreover, the card offers a $200 sign-up bonus after spending $1,000 in the first 90 days.

5. Credit Cards for Travel Rewards

If you are a frequent traveler who shops at Costco as well, consider using credit cards that offer travel rewards like Chase Sapphire Preferred or Capital One Venture Rewards. These cards don’t have specific perks for Costco shoppers but offer great value through their travel rewards programs.

In conclusion, selecting the best credit card for your Costco shopping experience depends on your spending patterns and preferred rewards types. Review our recommendations and choose the one that fits your needs and helps you maximize savings. Happy shopping!
