So you’ve finally managed to get your hands on the highly sought-after DualSense Edge Controller. Before you dive into your favorite games with this incredible new device, there’s one essential step to complete: updating your PlayStation 5’s software. In this article, we’ll guide you through the process to ensure a seamless gaming experience with your new controller.

Why Update the Software?

Sony’s PlayStation 5 (PS5) console is constantly evolving, and software updates bring new features and improvements, including enhanced support for accessories like the DualSense Edge Controller. By updating your PS5 to the latest software version, you’ll not only ensure compatibility but also enjoy better overall performance and stability.

How to Check for Updates

To begin the process of updating your PS5, do the following:

1. Ensure your PS5 is connected to the internet.

2. Navigate to the “Settings” icon on the home screen, which resembles a gear icon.

3. Scroll down and select “System.”

4. Inside the “System” menu, select “System Software.”

5. Click on “System Software Update and Settings.”

6. Finally, click on “Update System Software.”

Your PS5 will automatically check for software updates and prompt you if it finds a newer version available. Before proceeding with the update, make sure to save any ongoing game progress and exit all running applications.

Updating the Console

Once you have initiated the update process:

1. Your PS5 will download the software update in the background.

2. You might need to restart your console in order for the update to commence.

3. During installation, it’s crucial not to turn off or otherwise disturb your console.

4. After completing this process, your video game console will reboot.

Congratulations! Your PlayStation 5 has now been updated to support your new DualSense Edge Controller.

Additional Benefits of Updating

Updating your PS5 software not only ensures compatibility with the DualSense Edge Controller but also brings other benefits such as:

1. Improved system performance

2. Enhanced security features

3. Bug fixes for existing issues

4. New or updated features for games and applications

With the latest software installed, you can now fully enjoy the advanced capabilities, improved haptic feedback, and immersive gaming experiences offered by your new DualSense Edge Controller.
