In today’s evolving digital landscape, securing user data and privacy has become more essential than ever before. Apple is at the forefront of this movement, and the release of its iOS 15.5 update highlights its dedication to maintaining privacy for iPhone users. Though several new features have been widely discussed, some lesser-known capabilities are equally valuable. This article will explore those under-the-radar privacy features in iOS 15.5 that every user should be aware of.

1. App Privacy Report:

Apple introduced the App Privacy Report with iOS 15.5, which provides detailed information on how apps access the user’s data and device capabilities. This allows users to monitor potential intrusions or data leaks from installed applications and make informed decisions about their app usage.

2. iCloud Private Relay:

Available as an additional service with iCloud+, the iCloud Private Relay ensures that internet browsing activity remains secure and entirely private. The service encrypts all Safari traffic, routing it through two separate relays to prevent location tracking or any other snooping on browsing habits.

3. Mail Privacy Protection:

iOS 15.5 beefs up security on Apple’s email client with Mail Privacy Protection. This feature masks the IP address when checking emails for new messages and prevents senders from knowing if you’ve opened their email or not, thus protecting your online activity.

4. Siri Offline Capabilities:

For users who value their privacy above all else, Siri now boasts offline capability for basic functions such as opening apps and setting alarms without connecting to Apple servers or sending voice recordings – a significant step for voice assistant privacy.

5. Temporary Data Storage in Photos App:

Temporary data storage through the Photos app is another underrated feature implemented in iOS 15.5 that enhances user privacy by storing imported images temporarily before making them accessible to iCloud Photos or other applications.

6. App Clip Privacy:

App Clips, a useful feature for trying out new apps without fully downloading them, has also received a privacy upgrade in iOS 15.5. The update ensures that developers of App Clips cannot access other data or apps installed on the device – keeping the user’s information safe.

7. Built-in Authenticator for Auto-Fill Passwords:

Finally, Apple added a built-in authenticator in iOS 15.5 to generate verification codes from saved accounts for two-factor authentication. This eliminates reliance on third-party applications, minimizing possible security risks while keeping valuable information safely within Apple’s ecosystem.

These seven privacy features emphasize Apple’s commitment to user privacy and data security. While some are widely discussed, the others fly under the radar but are equally vital for users to know about and utilize. With iOS 15.5, your iPhone delivers robust protection to stay ahead of ever-evolving digital threats.
